FAQs
-
What is a celebrant?
A celebrant is a professional who creates and conducts personalised ceremonies for weddings, vow renewals, baby namings, and other life events.
-
What’s the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?
A registrar conducts legal civil ceremonies, following a set script, while a celebrant creates a completely personalised ceremony with no restrictions on content, location, or format.
-
Can a celebrant legally marry us in the UK?
Currently, celebrant-led weddings are not legally binding in England and Wales. Most couples complete the legal registration separately at a registry office before or after their celebrant-led
ceremony. -
How much does a celebrant cost in the UK?
Celebrant fees vary depending on experience, location, and the level of personalisation. Prices typically range from £450 to £1500 for a bespoke wedding ceremony.
-
How long does a celebrant-led ceremony last?
Most ceremonies last 20 to 45 minutes, depending on what you choose to include. Every ceremony is unique and tailored to your preferences.
-
Where can we have a celebrant-led wedding?
Anywhere! Unlike registrars, celebrants are not limited to licensed venues, meaning you can have your ceremony outdoors, at home, in a woodland, on a beach, or any location that’s special to you!
-
Can we include religious or spiritual elements in our ceremony?
Yes! A celebrant-led ceremony can be as traditional or modern as you like, incorporating religious readings, blessings, symbolic rituals (like handfasting or sand ceremonies), and personal vows.
-
Can we have a completely unique ceremony?
Of course! Every ceremony I create is completely original—no templates, no rules, and no limitations. Whether you're after something classic, a little offbeat, or even themed, I’ll design a ceremony that reflects you perfectly, written from scratch and inspired by your one-of-a-kind story.
-
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely! Personal vows add a beautiful, meaningful touch to your ceremony. If you'd like a little support, I’m here to help—whether that’s guiding you through the writing process or giving you a gentle push if you’re feeling stuck. Many couples I work with choose to keep their vows a surprise until the big day (with a bit of help from me behind the scenes!). And if writing isn’t your thing, no worries—I can craft them for you.
-
Do you offer naming ceremonies?
Yes, absolutely! Whether you're welcoming a new baby, celebrating an adopted child, or marking a name change at any age, a naming ceremony is a joyful and meaningful way to honour identity and create a sense of belonging.
-
Do you offer funerals/ celebrations of life?
Yes, I consider it a great privilege and honour to hold this space for families and create a ceremony that feels meaningful.
-
Do you do elopements?
Absolutely. What a beautiful honour and joy to be a part of that space with you both!
-
How much do you charge?
Prices vary depending on the type of ceremony, location and what is involved. Get in contact for more detail.
-
Do you do rehearsals?
Yes—if you'd like one! Some couples enjoy having a full rehearsal, while others are happy to go with the flow on the day. By the time your wedding arrives, you'll be familiar with your ceremony script, so most couples choose to skip a full run-through and simply practice the entrance. Whatever you decide, I’ll guide you every step of the way so you feel calm, confident, and ready.
-
How far in advance should we book you?
The sooner, the better. Busy dates get snapped up! I commit to only one ceremony a day, and take bookings on a first-come, first-served basis. However, life happens so feel free to reach out at short notice…you just never know!
-
How do we book you?
Easy peasy! Just get in touch and we’ll start with a chat over a cuppa. If we’ve got chemistry, we’ll stick your date in the diary and get started with the ceremony of your dreams!
